APOTHEDERM STRETCH MARK CREAM
Peptides can provide anti-ageing and reparative effects in skin-care products, such as building collagen and helping barrier function. Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream helps to reinforce the skin’s support structures and repair existing stretch marks, says distributor SkinBrands.
Its formulation contains natural emollients—she1a butter, cocoa butter, olive oil and meadowfoam seed oil—as well as heptapeptide-7, resveratrol, licorice extract, amino acids and sodium hyaluronate. The cream can reduce the appearance of red and silver stretch marks and improve skin’s texture, says the distributor.
Heptapeptide-7 contains seven amino acids commonly found in the skin, modelled on natural sequences found in the body’s defence and repair system, says SkinBrands. Meadowfoam seed oil is an emollient triglyceride composed of 98% long chain fatty acids and antioxidant tocopherols, which forms a moisture barrier to help prevent moisture loss.
Sodium hyaluronate is a humectant that helps maintain hydration balance, while resveratrol and licorice root help to reduce pigmentation, says the distributor.In a clinical study of 30 patients, 70% had visible improvement in stretch marks after two weeks, and more than 90% saw overall improvement after 12 weeks’ continued use, says SkinBrands.
